The project, first announced last April, will start generating electricity on 1 February. It is the biggest airport solar installation in Asia, the company said in an online statement.

The project is a joint venture between the Tokyo-based CIS thin-film specialist and the Development Bank of Japan (DBJ).

In December, Solar Frontier announced plans to launch PV module production at a new 150MW factory near Sendai, Miyagi prefecture, from March 2015.
