SunPower is already one of the most successful foreignmodule suppliers in Japan, having historically focused on the residentialsector. Roughly one-quarter of the 1.1GW of modules it produced last year weresold in Japan.

But the California-based company is looking to developother revenue streams in the Japanese market, piggybacking on its broad USexperience in areas ranging from EPC services to solar-leasing.

“We have initiated co-development [in Japan] with ourmajority shareholder,” says Zach Struyk, SunPower’s sales director in East Asiafor the utility and commercial sectors.
