A new wholly owned special purpose company will start construction this month in Iwanuma, Miyagi prefecture.
A spokesperson told Recharge that the Tokyo-based conglomerate will not use Japanese PV panels for the project, but declined to reveal the supplier.
The project will be built on farmland that was inundated with salt from the massive tsunami that devastated northeastern Japan in March 2011.
