Hitachi declined to reveal the PV module supplier for the project, which will be built on a site spanning 820,000 square metres in the village of Showa, Gunma prefecture.
The ¥13bn ($128m) installation is expected to be one of the biggest in the greater Tokyo area once it is completed in April 2017.
In addition to the Gunma project, Tokyo-based Ichigo has a 30MW pipeline in Japan, including an 8.53MW
Hitachi signs 43MW solar EPC deal
Hitachi will provide EPC services for a 43MW PV installation that a unit of real-estate firm and renewables developer Ichigo Group Holdings will start building northwest of Tokyo this October.
