Hitachi signs 43MW solar EPC deal
Hitachi will provide EPC services for a 43MW PV installation that a unit of real-estate firm and renewables developer Ichigo Group Holdings will start building northwest of Tokyo this October.
Hitachi declined to reveal the PV module supplier for the project, which will be built on a site spanning 820,000 square metres in the village of Showa, Gunma prefecture.
The ¥13bn ($128m) installation is expected to be one of the biggest in the greater Tokyo area once it is completed in April 2017.
In addition to the Gunma project, Tokyo-based Ichigo has a 30MW pipeline in Japan, including an 8.53MW PV array under construction in Nago, Okinawa prefecture.
In February, Hitachi selected Canadian Solar to supply PV modules for an 18MW project in northern Japan’s Tohoku region.
In January, a unit of Hitachi signed a deal with Swiss PV specialist Etrion to jointly finance and develop at least 100MW of utility-scale solar plants throughout Japan.
