Hanwha Q-Cells supplied the solar modules for the 82.02MW installation in Oita prefecture, a spokesperson for the Tokyo-based conglomerate told Recharge.

It started selling electricity under Japan's feed-in tariff (FIT) system to regional utility Kyushu Electric Power on 12 March. The FIT for the year to March 2015 is ¥32 ($0.31) per kWh for large-scale PV projects.

Oita Solar Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni, took about a year to complete the plant.
