The Baramati array - a public-private partnership with Maharashtra State Power Generation - will be installed in two phases, with an initial 36MW on 75 hectares of government land.
"This is the second project we have built in the state," says Welspun managing director Vineet Mittal, whose company is also building large solar projects in Tamil Nadu and Punjab.
Construction has began on the 36MW Punjab project and a memorandum of understanding has been signed for an additional 151MW.
