New solarinstallations have surged since Japan introduced a new feed-in-tariff programme lastJuly.

“Industrial,commercial and residential projects – all segments are booming,” says MasaakiKameda, a JPEA spokesperson.

The JPEAcollected data on cell and module shipment volumes from 37 firms during thethree months to December 2012, including Trina, Kyocera and Fuji Electric.

Totalshipments hit 1.1GW, including 340MW of imported products. Shipments in thesame period of 2011 were 406MW.
