The ADB is due to review a proposal for the finance on 19 July. If it approves the plan, state-run energy group Uzbekenergo will use the funds to partially finance construction of the plant in the country’s Samarkand region.

The Uzbek authorities will also provide funds to cover the project costs, which are currently estimated at $240m, according to an English-language website of Russian daily Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
