The US group will repay Hsinchu-based Gintech $35.1m of its deposit on the deal, while retaining roughly $21.9m.
Under the terms of the take-or-pay contract, signed in October 2006, SunEdison agreed to deliver wafers to Gintech over a 10-year period. Thetwo sides have since amended the agreement four times.
However, they have now decided to terminate the arrangement because of an inability to agree on prices and purchasing requirements.
