Sharp said its solar business experienced a “significant improvement” due to strong demand in Japan’s “booming” solar market, supported by July 2012's launch of a government feed-in tariff (FIT).

The Osaka-based electronics group’s total net sales rose 21.5% on the year to ¥1.3tn, while its operating income reached ¥33.8bn, on a group net loss of ¥4.3bn.
