JA Solar gets 70MW China order

JA Solar has bagged a 70MW module order for two enormous rooftop projects in China, underscoring its recent successes in its home market.

The order comes from local integrator Shanghai CSET, with the first 20MW to be delivered in December and the remainder in early 2014.

JA chief executive Baofang Jin calls the deal “another sign of improving industry fundamentals and strong demand from the China market”.

JA is among the handful of Chinese PV manufacturers which appear to have been chosen by Beijing to carry China’s banner in the global PV sphere in the years ahead, as emphasised by the 96MW module order it received in September from China Power Investment Corporation, the huge state-owned electricity utility.

JA, formerly a cell specialist which has diversified successfully into modules, is also pressing downstream into project development, having revealed plans in August to develop 300MW in Hebei province.
