Eurus taps Canadian Solar for 14MW
Eurus Energy has confirmed that Canadian Solar will supply 14MW of polycrystalline modules for a PV plant in northern Japan’s Tohoku region.
The Japanese renewables developer plans to build the utility-scale project on an unused golf course. The 80-hectare site lies on the border of Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures.
The plant, which is scheduled to go on line in March 2015, will generate enough electricity to supply roughly 5,000 homes.
Last week, Tokyo-based Eurus started constructing a 33.5MW PV plant near the city of Awaji, west of Osaka. Mitsubishi Electric will supply modules for that project, which is set to go online in July 2015.
Eurus is a joint venture between Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) and Toyota Group trading unit Toyota Tsusho.
