The European Commission set preliminary tariffs of up to 42.1% on Chinese producers of the specialist products used in solar power systems.
The anti-dumping probe was launched following a complaint in January by a group of Europe-based producers under the banner of EU ProSun Glass.
The duties are effective for six months, after which the EU will have to decide whether to make them permanent.
