Mitsubishi to build Jordan array

A Mitsubishi subsidiary has announced plans to partner two other companies to develop Jordan's biggest solar plant.

The Tokyo-based conglomerate did not reveal the panel supplier for the 52.5MW PV array in the south of the country.

Mitsubishi unit Diamond Generating Europe (DGE) and its partners — Qatar's Nebras Power and developer Kawar Group — expect to finish the Shams Ma’an project in early 2016.

The three sides will sell the output to the National Electric Power Company under a long-term power-purchase agreement.

DGE and Nebras will each take a 35% stake in the project, while Kawar will hold 30%.

Jordan, which has a total generating capacity of 2.8GW, aims to develop 1.6GW of renewables by 2020, including 300MW of PV.
