SunEd buys 50MW in Massachusetts

The 100MW Amanecer Solar CAP project
US solar group SunEdison has agreed to buy 50MW of PV projects nearing completion from BlueWave Capital in Massachusetts, the largest-ever such acquisition in the state.

The capacity is spread across 12 sites, most of which will be operational within a matter of weeks. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

All of the projects are qualified under the solar carve-out programmes – known as SREC I and II – in Massachusetts, which was the fourth largest statewide market in the US last year, adding 237MW of capacity.

SunEdison will sell the net metering credits generated to a number of towns and housing authorities.
