First Wind inks 320MW solar PPA

Developer First Wind says it has finalized four agreements to sell the entire output from its planned 320MW (AC) Four Brothers solar PV project in Utah over 20-years to electric utility Rocky Mountain Power.

Financial terms of the deal, among the largest in the US in recent years, were not made public. Major construction is slated to begin in 2015 with targeted completion in 2016.

The Four Brothers development comprises four separate fully permitted 80MW (AC) project sites in southwestern Utah.

“These additional long-term contracts with Rocky Mountain Power will enable us to move forward quickly with what will be the largest solar development in Utah, and our largest solar project to date,” says First Wind chief executive Paul Gaynor.

The deal comes weeks after the two companies announced a PPA arrangement covering the 20MW (AC) Seven Sisters solar PV project, also in Utah.

Rocky Mountain Power is a unit of PacifiCorp which is controlled by billionaire Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Energy holding company.
