Renewables group EDPR has struck finance agreements with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Black Sea Trade Development Bank (BSTDB) for the construction and operation of six PV projects totalling 50MW in Romania.

The long-term debt facility amounts to €30m ($41.3m), with BSTDB providing €10m in financing and EBRD €20m.

No details were given regarding the project timelines of the plants, located in Oltenia in the southern region of Romania.

Headquartered in Thessaloniki, Greece, BSTDB marks its first support solar energy project in the Black Sea region with the finance.

Current solar capacity in Romania is 1.16GW, providing electricity to over 100,000 homes in the country, EDPR said.
