JFE Engineering will work with power facility builder Kyudenko and leasing firm Kyuko-Lease to construct and manage 50MW of solar installations in Japan.

The three companies will begin by building a 1.7MW plant in Tamana, Kumamoto prefecture, on the southern island of Kyushu. Operations are scheduled to start in September.

JFE Engineering will oversee the design and construction of the project and Kyudenko will run and maintain it. Fukuoka-based Kyuko Lease will arrange funding by obtaining loans.

The three partners may jointly develop wind and geothermal projects in the future, says JFE Engineering.
