Panasonic in biggest Japan order

Japanese electronics giant Panasonic has supplied its biggest domestic PV order to date.

Panasonic delivered almost 8,800 of its polycrystalline modules to a 2MW project in the city of Tokushima on the Japanese island of Shikoku.

The plant, built by developer Miyazaki Solar Way on a former waste disposal site in October, is due to start operating on 24 April.

An observation deck has been built next to the site to serve as a renewable energy educational centre.

Like other equipment suppliers, Panasonic hopes to benefit from the booming solar market in its home country.
