SPG Solar is in talks with Iberdrola regarding the use of its tracker systems for PV projects in South Africa, as it looks to the Spanish energy giant for a toehold in emerging utility-scale solar markets.

SPG recently wrapped up its role at the demonstration PV array Iberdrola is building for the Mexican government in Baja state, where it delivered its SunSeeker tracking system for 3MW of the total 5MW being installed.  

SPG began talking with Iberdrola roughly 18 months ago, and the two have gone on to work together at several US projects, says Bill Elwell, head of the company’s products division.
