US developer Recurrent Energy has plugged in the last of four solar plants providing power to Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) in California.

The four PV projects in Sacramento County will feed the US’s sixth-largest public utility from their total of 88MW of capacity under a 20-year power supply agreement.

The Sacramento projects were in 2011 the subject of an undisclosed investment by internet giant Google and equity group KKR.

Recurrent – a subsidiary of Japanese electronics group Sharp – says it has now brought about 138MW of PV into operation from its 600MW portfolio.
