JA Solar trims forecast but takes comfort from China and Japan

China’s JA Solar trimmed its full-year shipment forecast as it posted another quarterly loss – but said it took comfort from strong growth in its domestic market and Japan.

JA Solar now expects 2012 cell and module shipments to be between 1.55GW and 1.65GW, compared to previous guidance of 1.5GW to 1.8GW.

It sees fourth-quarter shipments of 380MW to 420MW.

The company shipped 418MW during the third quarter, for which it posted a net loss of 371.4m ($59.1m) – roughly the same as its deficit at the same stage last year.

Chief executive Fang Peng says: "In spite of tough market conditions, shipments exceeded the top end of our guidance in the third quarter, thanks to robust sales across emerging markets.
