Yingli gets contract for 170MW solar project in California

Chinese solar panel maker Yingli has signed a deal to supply the 170MW project being developed by Centinela Solar Energy in California.

The contract is Yingli’s largest to date.

Located about 90 miles east of San Diego in California's Imperial County, the project is expected to start commercial operation in the middle of 2014. Spread over an area of 1,600 acres, it will be among the largest solar projects in the world.

Yingli was a major supplier for China’s largest solar project, the Huanghe 200MW solar farm built in Qinghai province at the end of 2011. It is also aiming to be a key supplier to utility-scale projects in the US.
