SunPower extends Toshiba Japanese supply deal to 2018

SunPower has extended its “master supply agreement” in Japan with Toshiba, which will continue to sell SunPower modules into the booming Japanese residential PV market until 2018.

Toshiba entered into the deal with SunPower in 2010, and has so far taken more than 150MW of modules. SunPower says the extension will see at least another 100MW delivered.

The deal underscores SunPower’s frenzied push into Asia-Pacific to compensate for falling demand in Europe.

The company – majority-owned by France’s Total – recently scored an order for its T5 “Solar Roof Tiles” with Japanese system integrator Kubokura, as well as launching a joint venture to sell its concentrating PV kit in China.
