JinkoSolar to supply 81MW to South Africa's Northern Cape

China’s JinkoSolar has signed a contract to supply 81MW of modules to a PV plant in South Africa.

The company will supply WBHO-Building Energy for its project in Gamagara Local Municipality in the country’s Northern Cape Province.

The project, to be developed and constructed by WBHO, is expected to be the largest individual PV project on the African continent, according to JinkoSolar.

It is one of the first approved under South Africa's renewable energy programme and is expected to supply electricity to 12,000 households.

All panels are to be shipped before the end of 2013.
