Trina says competitors are pricing "irrationally"

Trina – one of China’s top Chinese PV panel makers – says it has shipped fewer modules than expected in the third quarter after being hit by continued oversupply in the solar sector and the “irrational pricing practices” of some of its competitors.

In an announcement ahead of the release of the company’s third quarter results next week, Trina says module shipments will be between 375-385MW for the three months to the end of September compared to previous guidance of between 450-480MW.

The company also says that its overall gross margin will be a maximum 1.5% instead of the middle-single digits.

Trina says its margin will be impacted by a non-cash inventory write-down although it will also reverse prior provisions it had made in the event of anti-dumping and countervailing duties being levied by the United…
