NRG Energy brings sixth utility-scale PV project into operation

A subsidiary of NRG Energy has begun commercial operations at the 25MW Avra Valley Solar Generating Station in Arizona, providing electricity for up to 20,000 homes at peak capacity.

Located near Tucson, Arizona, Avra Valley is the sixth largest utility-scale solar facility in NRG’s fleet. Utility Tucson Electric Power is buying all the electricity under a 20-year contract. The NRG system will serve as the single largest solar array in TEP’s renewable energy portfolio.
