Japan’s
solar
market
has
traditionally
relied
on
residential
systems
but
a
new,
very
generous
feed-in
tariff
introduced
by
the
government
on
1
July
has
brought
a
major
shift
in
the
market,
supporting
construction
of
megawatt-scale
solar
farms.
In
the
three
months
since
the
FIT
was
launched,
nearly
1.5GW
of
projects
have
applied
and
qualified
for
the
subsidy,
according
to
NPD
Solarbuzz.
The
figure
represents
60%
of
the
total
capacity
the
government
was
expecting
between
July
2012
and
March
2013,

is
also
more
than
the
total
installations
for
last
year
