China starts fair-trade inquiries into EU polysilicon imports

The trade probe follows complaints by four Chinese polysilicon makers

China will launch anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations into polysilicon imported from the European Union, in a widely anticipated move that adds to escalating trade tensions in the global solar industry.

China's Ministry of Commerce (Mofcom) says today it will add Europe-made polysilicon to the investigations already underway into imports of the raw material from the US and Korea.

The trade probe comes in response to complaints by four Chinese polysilicon makers – GCL Poly, LDK Solar, Daqo New Energy and Luoyang Sino-Silicon – that allege dumping of imported polysilicon has hurt their sales.
