Yingli ships 40MW to Peru as Latin America PV ambitions grow

Chinese module-maker Yingli has shipped 40MW to two projects in southern Peru, as the company seeks to expand in the fast-growing Latin American market.

The projects, one in Tacna and one in Moqueua, are being developed by Spanish companies Gestamp Solar and Solarpack.

They are set to start operating at the end of the year, says Yingli.

Latin America has a number of emerging markets, which Chinese panel-makers are hoping to tap in response to slowing growth in more established regions like Europe.

Yingli has opened offices in Mexico, Chile and Brazil, and is sponsoring the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil in a bid to boost its sales.
