Solarstrom plans 440MW of subsidy-free PV in Spain

SAG Solarstrom has secured the rights to four PV projects in western Spain totalling 440MW, with the German PV group confirming to Recharge its intention to build the plants with no subsidies attached.

Ranging in size from 165MW to 55MW, the four ground-mounted PV farms will be built by a joint venture – including local Extremadura developer Valsolar – in which Solarstrom holds a 51% share.

The joint venture will sell the electricity produced – some 660GWh per year – via power-purchase agreements with local energy providers, and says it has the assurance of the Extremadura government that network operator REE will co-operate.
