Gestamp Solar sets out 300MW PV ambitions in Japan

Gestamp Solar has formed a partnership with Japanese energy consultancy Kankyo-Keiei that will see it build an initial 30MW of rooftop PV, as part of a broader plan to put up ten times that capacity across Japan within three years.

The two companies “will work closely to identify the most suitable rooftops and develop the required permits, licenses and authorisations,” says Gestamp Solar chief executive Jorge Barredo.

Kankyo-Keiei is an energy consultancy that claims to represent more than 4,400 stores and buildings across Japan – primarily supermarkets.

Gestamp also expanded its PV ambitions for the Japanese market to 300MW by the end of 2015, across both the ground-mounted and residential segments.
