New Europe boss for Suntech as Stokes exits Chinese PV giant

Suntech Europe president Jerry Stokes will be immediately replaced by Vedat Gürgeli, hitherto the company’s vice president for sales and marketing, as the churn at the top of the world’s largest PV manufacturer continues.

Gürgeli joined Suntech in 2009, having previously worked as managing director for Conergy, and before that for Bosch and Sharp. He will assume the title of managing director at Suntech, in charge of operations in Europe – the company’s largest market.

The departure of Stokes, who has resigned “to pursue new challenges”, would come as a surprise to industry observers if not for the dramatic upheaval in the executive suites of Suntech in recent weeks.
