NRG's rapid rise as a new power in the solar sector

In the course of three years, NRG Solar, a unit of power giant NRG Energy, has taken the solar industry by storm, attaching its name to the world’s largest operating PV array, the biggest solar-thermal project and the largest rooftop distributed generation plan.

Thousands of workers are toiling away on nearly 1GW of NRG Solar projects — including four (Ivanpah, California Valley Solar Ranch, Agua Caliente and Amp) backed by federal loan guarantees — and the company is developing another gigawatt, making it one of the largest solar developers in the US market.
