Update: Suntech warns against 'protectionism' in EU PV market

China’s Suntech is to supply 26MW of solar panels to new projects in Germany under a deal signed with local developer Solarstrom.

The deal comes after the European Commission said it would launch an investigation into the alleged dumping of Chinese panels on European markets.

Suntech, the world’s largest solar panel maker, warned against "protectionist measures" that it claimed would push up costs and threaten jobs. "We stand together with the majority of European and global companies in the solar industry in supporting free trade.

"Until the issue is resolved, we will continue to work with our customers and partners to ensure business as usual," Suntech adds.
