Element breaks into French PV with 18MW of tender wins

Francois Hollande has voiced more support for renewables than Sarkozy

Element Power has revealed that it won 18MW of capacity in the recently concluded French PV tender, as the private-equity backed developer rapidly expands its reach within the global renewables sector.

Element – which was recently awarded a 3GW grid-connection offer to build an export cable to send wind power from Ireland to the UK – says its five ground-mounted French PV projects will be built over the next two years.

The electricity will be sold to the French government over a 20-year period at an undisclosed rate.

Element’s winning projects include 2.16MW in the sunny Midi-Pyrénées region, 11.57MW in Burgundy, and 4.02MW in adjacent France Comté.
