Hanwha launches North American project development unit

Hanwha SolarOne is launching Hanwha SolarEnergy America (HSEA) to provide project development services to the North American utility and commercial PV markets.

The new unit marks the completion of the integration of Solar Monkey, which the US division of Hanwha SolarOne – 49.5% owned by Korean industrial conglomerate Hanwha Group – first bought into in January 2011.

Matthew McCullough, chief executive of HSEA, says the new unit has 1GW of projects in the pipeline in North America.

“The full capabilities of Hanwha Solar, from manufacturing to project development to finance, will allow us to become a leading provider of solar energy services in North America,” he says.
