Trina eyes supply deal with Solar Flagships partners in Australia

Chinese module manufacturer Trina Solar is discussing a potential supply deal with the Pacific Hydro-Fotowatio Renewables Ventures (FRV) PV consortium, which plans to compete for government funding under Australia’s Solar Flagships support programme.

Pacific Hydro and FRV have vowed to soldier on with plans to build a large-scale project in Australia – despite losing a second round of bidding for the PV portion of Solar Flagships. Original consortium partner BP Solar has quit the industry altogether.

Now that the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (Arena) has taken over the allocation of Solar Flagship funding, the consortia that were unsuccessful in previous bidding rounds will continue to compete for unallocated funds.
