US Ex-Im Bank loans Indians $57m to buy First Solar modules

Two Indian PV developers have secured a total of $57.3m in finance from the US Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im) to help them buy First Solar modules for their projects.

Ex-Im will lend Mahindra Surya Prakash $34.3m to help build two plants in Rajasthan, one of 20MW and one of 10MW.

The bank – which provides finance to underpin US exports – will lend $23m to Solar Field Energy Two for a 20MW plant, also in Rajasthan.

Ex-Im says the orders for the Indian plants will help to support 200 jobs at First Solar’s factory in Perrysburg, Ohio.
