Stored PV to make debut on Australian power market

Infigen will test storage technology, and the production and dispatch of power from the PV array and battery system

Renewables developer Infigen Energy is to supply stored PV power for trading on Australia’s wholesale electricity market for the first time.

Infigen – Australia’s biggest developer of wind farms – has received planning approval to build a 1MW solar plant and linked energy-storage system in New South Wales.

The first stage of the Capital East Solar Farm will comprise a 200kW PV array plus storage. It will be the first such plant registered to operate as part of Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM).

The company says it will use the facility to test storage technology, and the production and dispatch of power from the PV array and battery system.
