UK PV installers want $3.4m compensation for FIT uproar

A group of PV installers is demanding £2.2m ($3.4m) in compensation from the UK government for losses allegedly suffered as a result of solar feed-in tariff (FIT) changes that were later deemed unlawful.

North of England-based Solarlec PV Solutions and two other companies claim they saw “a drop in consumer confidence, reduction in orders, sales and profit margin, as well as the loss of substantial contracts”, as a result of government efforts to amend the solar support regime.

The row centres on plans first announced by the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) last October to change the rates on offer for small-scale solar systems.
