Indonesian state groups link for PV manufacturing plant

PV generation is seen as an attractive option for Indonesia's islands

Two of Indonesia’s major state-owned companies plan to jointly build an integrated PV manufacturing plant in the Southeast Asian nation.

Oil and gas group Pertamina has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with LEN Industry, the government-owned electronics group, to pursue joint solar initiatives, including the factory.

The plant would fill a gap in the national solar manufacturing capability by producing cells, which are currently imported into Indonesia at high cost for module assembly inside the country, says Pertamina.

“Through the collaboration of the two companies, the business chain for national solar industry will be covered from upstream to downstream,” the oil group adds.
