Tariffs are no quick fix for US market, says SolarWorld's Brinser

SolarWorld America president Gordon Brinser says it will take more than tariffs on Chinese PV imports to restore US solar manufacturing to health.

Although SolarWorld’s trade petition against the Chinese PV industry has caused a rift between US manufacturers and downstream industry players who fear their costs will increase, Brinser called for unity and a “new game plan” for the industry.

“It will require manufacturers, suppliers, installers, government, trade associations to... take the lead to preserve the US industry,” Brinser said at Intersolar North America. “It will take leadership and collaboration from every part and all levels.”
