Yingli bets on Australia's solar promise with new base

Yingli has based its new regional HQ in Sydney

Chinese PV giant Yingli hailed Australia as one of the most promising solar markets in the world as it opened its new regional headquarters in Sydney.

The PV manufacturer – one of the world's biggest – has until now had a limited presence in the country.

But falling PV costs, looming grid parity, the availability of financing schemes and good solar resources all mean the time is right to follow its competitors into Australia, says Lucas Sadler, Yingli’s regional managing director.

“It may seem like we have missed the boat, but it’s more strategic now. There’s a level of maturity both in the distribution network and at the consumer level,” Sadler tells Recharge.
