reduce
Calico’s
footprint
by
16%
—
to
avoid
damaging
wildlife
habitat
—
which
would
cut
its
maximum
capacity
to
618MW.
In
late
2010,
the
CEC
approved
Calico
as
a
663.5MW
concentrating
solar
power
(CSP)
project
using
SunCatcher
dish
engines
from
Stirling
Energy
Systems
(SES),
a
unit
of
Dublin-based
NTR
and
sister
company
to
Tessera.
At
that
time,
Tessera
had
a
1.4GW
pipeline
of
approved
CSP
projects
in
the
California
desert,
but
was
unable
to
secure
funding
to
build
