Turner, Southern buy 20MW PV project from SunEdison

The solar team of utility giant Southern Company and billionaire Ted Turner have acquired a 20MW PV project in Nevada from MEMC Electronic Materials subsidiary SunEdison.

It's the second PV project acquired since Turner, the biggest individual US landowner, and Southern – the largest utility serving the Southeast – formed a strategic alliance to invest in the PV industry.

Turner Renewable Energy and Southern plan to bring the nearly-complete Apex Solar Project, in Clark County, Nevada, on line. It was developed and built by SunEdison, which will operate and maintain the project, due to reach full commercial operation in the third quarter.
