Chinese group Sky Solar has signed a framework agreement to develop up to 300MW of PV generation in Chile.

The $900m deal was signed with Chilean industrial group Sigdo Koppers and is backed by the China Development Bank.

The partners plan to build the PV capacity in the north of the country over the next three years.

If fully realised, the PV build would represent the biggest single investment yet by a Chinese company in the country, says government trade body ProChile.

Sky Solar expects to begin construction of the first 18MW of projects in 2012 and to have a further 150MW in place within 18 months.
