Hanergy to supply 383MW of PV as Ikea goes solar in China

Chinese PV manufacturer Hanergy will install 383MW of its thin-film panels on the rooftops of furniture retailer Ikea’s China stores and those of its suppliers.

The agreement will see Hanergy supply the modules over a three-year period, the company says.

Beijing-based Hanergy says it currently has production capacity for more than 2GW of amorphous-silicon thin film, after launching a major push into the solar sector over the past year.

Its investment in thin-film panel production – after acquiring technology supplier Apollo Solar in late 2010 – comes as other firms in the US and Europe are cutting back on output.
