Abengoa wins $360m contract to build 200MW Calif. PV plant

Spanish renewable energy company Abengoa says it has won a contract to engineer, build and start-up a 200MW PV plant in the Imperial Valley of California.

The company did not name the project.

Abengoa says the $360m contract calls for completion of the project in 18 months, with operation to occur progressively in the second half of 2013.

That timeline, as well as the size and location of the project, match plans announced by 8minutenergy for the 200MW Mount Signal project, which it is developing with AES Solar, though there are several large-scale solar developments planned in the area. (Also, a PDF from Abengoa announcing the contract is titled, in part, "NP AES Final".)
